Step-By-Step

Apply wood glue (Titebond) to the back edges of two crown moulding corners (#107629). Attach the pieces together to form the base of the dreidel. Allow glue to dry.

To create a 6-inch-square piece of wood for the top, first cut a 4-inch-wide x 36-inch-long craft board and a 3-inch-wide x 24-inch-long craft board to 6 inches long using a handsaw with miter box. (Note: The actual sizes of the craft boards, found in the craft wood section of the lumber department, are 3 1/2 and 2 1/2 inches wide.) Apply wood glue to one long edge of each cut craft board, and attach the boards (edge to edge) to create the 6-inch-square top. Allow glue to dry. Use wood glue to attach the square top to the dreidel base. Allow glue to dry.

Use wood filler to fill in any gaps. Allow to dry, and then sand lightly.

Using a 1/4-inch bit, predrill a hole in the center of the top. Screw the 4-inch round taper table leg (#842) into the predrilled hole.

Paint the dreidel with two coats of your desired color. Allow to dry between coats. Paint the dreidel’s edges and letters with a secondary color. Allow to dry.

Good To Know

Use leftover wood from the craft boards to create additional dreidels. If you don’t have a handsaw with miter box, ask a Lowe’s employee to cut the wood for you.
