Ready For Luxury

Now that the kids have grown up, your home can too. With an empty nest and no worries about spills and messes, go ahead and cover the sofa with white fabric. Add silk drapes. Create the gentle, comforting palette that will feel good for years to come.

Stage 3
  1. The lines of the sofa are still classic, so you can simply revitalize the furniture by adding a slipcover.
  2. Create a new coffee table using a vintage base and a pine panel. Apply a faux finish to the top using blue and dark brown paint plus silver glaze for the look of granite.
  3. Paint a mirror to complement your décor, and flank it with decorative plates.
  4. Soothing blue paint for the walls and crisp white for the ceiling creates a soft color palette.
  5. Give the side table a new finish with white paint and antiquing glaze.
  6. The soft browns and blues in this rug with an Oriental motif lay a luxe foundation for the room.
  7. An antique finish on the existing wicker chairs gives them a soft patina.
  8. Continue the formal overtones with floor-length draperies. Select silk panels to frame the windows and layer with woven wooden blinds for texture and dimension. Install a dressy chandelier for additional lighting.
