Stripes-and-Dots Pumpkins

Stripes and polka dots are simple way to celebrate the season. To add stripes, start with a white pumpkin. Using a 1-inch paintbrush and yellow paint (#53002), follow the lines from the stem to the pumpkin’s base. Create a spotted pumpkin by covering it with a coat of white paint (#47096) and adding orange polka dots (#47096, 2010-2). For painted pumpkins, start with a smooth, clean surface. Let paint dry between coats.

Crow-and-Branch Pumpkin

Add a spooky scene to a plain pumpkin. Use the downloadable stencil for this crow-and-branch scene. Download the pattern, attach it to the pumpkin, and use a straight pin to outline the pattern. Remove the paper template. Paint (#57994) inside the outline using a small brush. For best results, apply paint in light layers. Let dry.

Download the crow stencil.

Paint-and-Carve Jack

Trick out a classic jack-o’-lantern with paint. Paint the surface of the pumpkin black (#57994); let dry. Download the pattern, attach it to the pumpkin, and use a pin or sharp object to outline the pattern. Cut out the eyes, nose, and mouth. Insert a candle and let it glow.
