Coffee Table and Wall Art
Instructions for Coffee Table
  1. Sand the edge-glued panel, and wipe clean. Apply primer and one or two coats of paint, allowing each coat to dry.
  2. Using mineral spirits, clean the galvanized pipes, flanges, and caps. Create four leg assemblies by screwing the pieces together. Prime the assemblies using metal primer, and allow to dry.
  3. Apply two coats of paint to the leg assemblies, allowing each coat to dry. Tip: Temporarily attach the leg assemblies (at the flanges) to scrap wood and set them upright for easier painting.
  4. On the underside of the panel, place a flange 1 inch in from the sides at each corner, and mark the placements for the screws. Drill pilot holes at each mark using a 3/32-inch drill bit.
  5. Attach a leg assembly at each corner using wood screws. Use the end caps to adjust the height of the leg assemblies as needed.
Instructions for Wall Art
  1. Cut the pieces of 1 3/4-inch moulding into two 40-inch lengths and two 21-inch lengths. Cut the pieces of screen moulding into two 38 5/8-inch lengths and two 24 1/2-inch lengths. Sand rough edges as needed.
  2. Apply primer and paint to all trim pieces, allowing each coat to dry. (We painted the 1 3/4-inch moulding a dark brown and the screen moulding a light green.)
  3. Coffee Table and Wall Art Form a rectangle with the 1 3/4-inch moulding pieces, placing the two short pieces inside the two long pieces. The wide face of the moulding should be facing front. Join the pieces with glue, and clamp in place. At each corner of the frame, mark the placements for the screw holes in the corner braces. Drill pilot holes using a 1/16-inch drill bit. Attach the corner braces using the screws included. Check for square and adjust as needed. Allow glue to dry.
  4. Coffee Table and Wall Art Form a rectangle with the screen moulding pieces, placing the two long pieces inside the two short pieces. The wide face of the moulding should be facing front. Join the pieces with glue and finishing nails. Check for square and adjust as needed. Place the screen moulding frame on top of the 1 3/4-inch moulding frame with the outer edges flush. Predrill holes, and then join the two frame assemblies using finishing nails.
  5. Coffee Table and Wall Art Paint a 32 1/2- x 48-inch rectangle on the wall in your desired location, using painter’s tape around the edges. Allow to dry. Adhere a 40-inch-long piece of wallpaper in the center of the rectangle. Using appropriate fasteners for your wall type, secure the frame to the wall at the top edge of the wallpaper, leaving a 4-inch painted border around the edges.
